Being one of the oldest industries, Textile industry has undergone many changes not only in methods of manufacture but also in units used to measure various characteristics. In olden days Brtish sytem of units were used. Later metric systems and finally International system of units known as SI units were recognised as standard units to be used world over. However, the industry, being orthodox, has been very slow in adopting these units. Many mills and even Research Institutes still use the old units. To facilitate the adoption to new system, knowledge conversion factors from one system to another will be useful. For this purpose some useful conversion factors are given below.
| Quantity to be converted | To be converted into | Conversion Details |
|---|---|---|
| Cotton Count Ne | Tex | Tex= 590.5/Cotton Count |
| Metric Count Nm | Tex | Tex= 1000/Metric Count |
| Kgf | Newton | Kgf = 9.81*Newton |
| gf/den | milliNewton/tex,mN/tex | mN/tex = 88.3 * gf/den |
| Denier | Tex | Tex= Denier * 0.1111 |
| Denier | dTex | dTex = Denier * 1.111 |
| Denier | Microaire(mircogrms/inch) | Micronaire = Denier * 2.822 |
| Gr/yd | Kilotex | Kilotex = 0.07087 * Gr/yd |
| Grms/yd | Kilotex | Kilotex = 1.094 * Grms/yd |
| Twist Factor(conventional = (TPI/(Count^0.5) | Twist Factor (SIunits)= Turns/cm * (Tex^0.5) | Turns/cm * (Tex^0.5) = 9.57 *TPI/(Count^0.5) |
| Pascal(Newton/sq meter) | Kgf/sq cm | Pascal = Kgf/sq cm * 9.806 * 10000 |

nice to see such a thing
Perfect, but need more conversion like inverser Denier to Micronaire but how to convert Micronaire to Denier to NM, to Ne etc.
HI BALA REALY HELPFUL ,NEED MORE CONVERTION FACTORS.
Quite easy to understand..
EXCELLENT! Saved my behind...
